Method of Estimating the Correlation Functions of an Inhomogenous Random Field of Optical Densities,

Abstract

Microphotometry is a principal method of analyzing local objects in aerial photographs: it results in a photometric profile of the particular image as a function of optical densities randomly distributed over the area under examination. The authors developed a method for obtaining the optimal correlation function for the random sampling of optical density information in an image area.
