The Electrostatic Field of a Dielectric Filled Slot,

Abstract

The electrostatic field distribution around a dielectric filled slot is computed by a method which is believed to be new, in which the aperture field is expanded in a mixed Fourier series involving terms in both the cosine and the generalized Riemann zeta function. The resulting expansion is found to converge very rapidly, so that accurate numerical computations of the field distribution can be obtained using only a few terms in the expansion. Numerical results for the field distribution are presented for various values of the slot dielectric constant, and a simple approximate formula which represents the results of the numerical computations within an accuracy of about 10 percent is given.
