Transonic Flow at a Slotted Test Section Wall.

Abstract

A brief preview is given of some important features of slot flow as they are beginning to emerge from the present experimental and theoretical investigation. It is tentatively concluded, for a particular case typical of two-dimensional tests, that the slot flow is approximately inviscid (although influenced by boundary layer formation in the slot), that it leaves the slot as a free jet, that it is influenced by the test section wall boundary layer, and that the quadratic cross flow term in the pressure difference formula is important.
