Extended Array Evaluation Program. Special Report No. 12. Continued Evaluation of the Norwegian Long-Period Seismic Array - Final Report

Abstract

This report describes the final results of the continued evaluation of the Norwegian Long-Period Seismic Array (NORSAR) by Texas Instruments Incorporated at the Seismic Data Analysis Center over the period 1 April 1973 to 30 September 1973. The major areas of study were: Noise analysis; array processing performance; effectiveness of matched filters; surface wave detection capability; and, performance of standard surface wave discriminants. A total of 133 Eurasian events and 36 noise samples were processed and analyzed during this period. The results were combined with earlier data, when applicable, in order to maximize the data base.
