Summary Report of a Survey of Models, Simulations, and Games.

Abstract

The paper presents a summary of highlights from a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA)-sponsored gaming evaluation project. The paper discusses a detailed survey instrument used to characterize 132 operational models, simulations, and games (MSGs) in the active Department of Defense inventory as of the end of 1971. Major findings related to the purpose, production, operations, use, and costs of the sample are presented. (Modified author abstract)
