Modification of EDEP1 Code to Allow Use of Arbitrary Electronic Energy Loss.

Abstract

A computer program which calculates the distribution of energy deposited into elastic collisions for a beam of ions coming to rest in an amorphous material has recently been developed. The program, EDEP1, is useful for calculating the damage profile created in the target by the ion beam and for absolute estimates of the defect density. Simple modifications to program EDEP1 are given to enable the user to insert arbitrary electronic stopping powers into the program and eliminate the LSS calculation of electronic stopping power.
