Interactive Computer-Aided Design Aircraft Flying Qualities Program. Volume I. Users Manual.

Abstract

This report describes a digital computer program which calculates the longitudinal and lateral-directional stability and control derivatives and aircraft flying qualities for a Mach number range for 0 -3.0. The report consists of four volumes. Volume I, Users Manual, contains a detailed description of the input/output options, program limitations, input/output data, and a set of sample problems. Volume IV, Program Assessment/Correlation Report, presents the results of the correlation studies and conclusions pertaining to the validity of the methodology. The computer program is written in Fortran IV Extended language for the CDC 6600 operating system. However, it is designed to be adapted to other operating systems because use of unique features peculiar to a given processor has been avoided whenever practical. User oriented features are included in the program to provide minimum input data requirements, flexible input/output control options and substitution of experimental data for aerodynamic characteristics.
