Naval Shipyard Performance Evaluation.

Abstract

The study attempts to provide a quick and realistic picture of overall shipyard performance. The powerful statistical tools of regression and correlation were applied to financial and operating data representative of the past five fiscal years - to determine functional relationships existing within the structure of shipyard operations. - The application of sten scores to ratio analysis provided the means to focus managerial attention on the relevant factors of shipyard performance. -A simple format was designed to provide a quick and comprehensive picture of overall shipyard performance to assist management in the decision-making process. Through the application of these statistical methods and analytical concepts, the efficiency and effectiveness of naval shipyard operations may be improved to provide lower costs to the customer activities of the U.S. Fleet.
