The Line-Reeving Boat Hook,

Abstract

This report describes a device called the line-reeving boathook and its application by various units during field tests. The device permits the rapid reeving of a line through an eye or around a stanchion which is outside the normal reach of the operator. The use of this tool along with certain modifications of the lifting hook attached to the rigging of the boom on buoy tenders permits the speedy placement of the lifting hook into the lifting bail of buoys. The device also augments the speedy and exact placement of head lines on the cage member of a buoy. (Modified author abstract)
