The Connection between Intermittent Turbulent Activity near the Wall of a Turbulent Boundary Layer with Pressure Fluctuations at the Wall.

Abstract

The interaction of fluctuating wall pressure with intermittent sublayer activity was experimentally investigated with a turbulent boundary layer developed on a flat plate in air. Simultaneous measurements of longitudinal fluctuating velocity, longitudinal fluctuating wall shear stress, and fluctuating wall pressure were recorded on analogue tape and later transferred to digital tape. A computer program was written to perform all intermittent signal processing. (Modified author abstract)
