Electric Fields Induced by Steady Ocean Currents,

Abstract

Oceanic electric fields can be interpreted in terms of an inducing water current moving through the geomagnetic field. The specific relationship between electric field and water current is determined by the conductivity structure and current geometry. Analytical solutions are found for six useful layered conductivity models. The current geometries can be extended to more complex cases by superposition of results. (Author)
