Optimal Search Using a Sensor with Uncertain Sweep Width,

Abstract

In this paper the author considers the problem of searching for a stationary target with a sensor whose sweep width is uncertain. It is assumed that there is a prior target location distribution for sweep width. Let P(t) be the probability of finding the target by time t. The author wishes to find search plans which maximize P(t) for all t.
