Flight and Taxi Data from A-37B Aircraft during Combat and Training Operations. Volume I: Vgh, Taxi Speed, Taxi Strain, and Usage Form Data.

Abstract

This first volume of a three-volume report documents a data recording program on United States Air Force (USAF) and Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF) A-37B aircraft during training and combat operations between May 1969 and September 1971. The presented data includes 4000 hours of VGH data (nz, airspeed, and altitude); 123 hours with time versus taxi speed; 794 flights with wing strains during taxi; and 47,928 hours of individual aircraft 'usage form' data (time and number of flights distributed by mission and takeoff configuration). Fourteen channels of data were recorded by either DICOR or DARS Conrac digital magnetic tape recorders during ground and flight operation. In addition, some of the taxi strain data was recorded by mechanical scratch strain gages, and the usage form data was acquired from Air Force Technical Order (AFTO) Form 781 or equivalent VNAF forms.
