Reconstruction of Past Climatic Variability

Abstract

Past climatic variations are reconstructed by applying multivariate techniques to well-dated proxy series of climate such as tree rings. Progress is reported on three areas of research: (1) the development and expansion of a tree-ring and climatic data base, (2) experimentation on multivariate methods for modeling climatic parameters as a function of tree growth, and (3) reconstruction of past variations in climate, using tree rings.
