Surface and Bulk Electronic Properties of Magnetic Materials.

Abstract

The report includes brief summaries of theoretical studies of pure and impurity-doped insulators and metals with the object of understanding the sources of energy loss in magnetic materials used in AC instrumentation. Also studied are surface effects on magnetic solids, the passage from a non-magnetic to a magnetic state or between different magnetic states (magnetic phase transitions), the energetics of magnetic alloying, and the response of complex magnetic materials to infrared and microwave radiation.
