A Multichannel Underwater Telemetry System.

Abstract

The telemetry system described herein is a research tool designed to collect and relay physiological data from divers to a convenient monitoring point on a real time continuous basis. The number and type of parameters can be easily changed in the field to optimize each experiment. At present, it is possible to monitor diver electrocardiogram, skin temperature, and core temperature using swallowable endoradiosonde pills. Data are transmitted from the diver by ultrasonic energy over ranges varying from 200 feet to beyond one mile depending upon environmental factors. (Author)
