An Analysis of Behavioral/Structural Conflict Experienced by Systems Staff Officers in Army Materiel Management and Decisionmaking.

Abstract

The study analyzes the conditions of conflict which existed between the behavior of individuals assigned as System Staff Officers and the structure (organization) in which they worked. While the functions performed by Systems Staff Officers in material management and decisionmaking are deemed to have been highly contributory, no other study is known to exist which analyzes the human cost and conditions of productivity attendant to this specific management function (System Staff Officer). The field study is an inquiry aimed at determining the interactions and relationships between psychological/sociological variables which were pervasive in the System Staff Officers' working environment.
