Optimal Design of Recursive Digital Filters.

Abstract

Until very recently, the problem of choosing the coefficients of recursive digital filters has been relatively unexplored. Most design techniques involve transformations of continuous filter designs. First an analog filter is designed using long established techniques and then the analog filter is transformed into a digital filter. This paper will explore some new design techniques and describe a practical method for the design of recursive digital filters with prescribed magnitude characteristics.
