Production Engineering Measure for Optical Pumps for Lasers.

Abstract

This program is directed towards establishing a capability for the manufacture of flashlamps to be used as optical pumps in laser systems. Work has been directed towards the evaluation and establishment of a series of lamps to be used as secondary standards throughout the program. A matrix of probably near-optimal variations covering the design of compressed gas cooled lamps with a 2.050 inch arc length was developed and first samples fabricated. The evaluation of liquid cooled lamps has continued. The government furnished property was received and is being tested. Modifications have been completed to the special test equipment supplied by ILC, which includes a precision power supply, water cooled laser and fluorescent analysis instrument, and four channel data acquisition system.
