Photo- and Electric Field-Effects in Energetic Materials,

Abstract

The report discusses the photoelectronic initiation effect in solid explosives. This comprises the simultaneous action of light and an electric field to initiate decomposition and detonation. A mechanism is proposed which concerns the avalanching of charge carriers. Reference is made to experimental data on lead azide.
