Electroluminescent Film Display Device.

Abstract

During the reporting period, progress in fabricating 6 in. x 6 in. thin film transistor (TFT) display circuits was slowed due to equipment failure. These problems were largely overcome. A technique was devised, and demonstrated, for making good edge connections to the array using evaporated metal fingers. Considerable efforts was devoted to constructing an alternative vacuum deposition system, with alignment jigs, etc., in order to increase the rate of circuit panel fabrication. Initial design and fabrication of a display exerciser was begun. A 5 x 7 matrix format for alphanumeric read-out was chosen, the exerciser will refresh the display on a row by row basis every 1.2 mS. Further studies on uniformity and stability continued with encouraging results. (Author)
