Thin Film Transistor-Addressed Display Device.

Abstract

Design of the final thin film version (signal and power transistor) of the flat panel display control circuit was completed and further progress in fabrication made. Device uniformity tests on the 6 in. x 6 in. panel were conducted and the results exceeded expectations. Considerable progress was made in understanding the principles of the 'hypermaintenance' electroluminescent (EL) phosphor and how the phosphor fabrication process influences life. Excellent maintenance of EL phosphor brightness was achieved with 1,000 - 10,000 hours of 5000 c.p.s. operation, at 150 V, already demonstrated on material of 50 fL initial brightness. The display exerciser construction was completed, it was tested and performed to specifications. (Author)
