Pulsed RF Frequency Measurement for Built-in-Test Equipment (BITE).

Abstract

The objective of the research and development program was to demonstrate the feasibility of a Pulsed RF Frequency Measurement device suitable for applications to Built-In-Test Equipment (BITE) that could be applied to various IFF and Radar equipments to monitor the carrier frequency of the rf pulses. To this end a study of pulsed RF frequency measurement methods was conducted. A technique involving a fast-gated, phase-lock loop was selected as optimum for the pulsed RF frequency measurement research and development. Various circuit functions of a fast-gated, phase-lock loop were designed and evaluated. The optimized circuit design was then integrated into a complete phase-lock loop design. A feasibility model of the pulsed RF frequency monitor was built and successfully tested. (Author)
