Quality of Killed Steel Ingots,

Abstract

This chapter of a larger work discusses the need for developing steels which meet the increased requirements of new branches of science. Production methods discussed are electroslag and vacuum-arc remelting. The advantages and disadvantages of the two are compared with each other and with ordinary methods of steel refining. The two methods of remelting produce steels of high quality with complementing uses. The authors concluded that these methods are economically efficient and that the volume of steel produced by these methods should be increased.
