Simple Universal Joints in Drive Axles of UAZ Vehicles,

Abstract

The article discusses tests conducted on UAZ motor vehicles, in which the driving front axle ball joints, which have a constant angular velocity, were replaced with simple universal joints, both ball type, and those built with crosses on needle bearings. Test results showed that when the front driving axle was properly used (i.e., not on hard, dry surfaces) the life of the parts and tire wear with the simple joints did not differ appreciably from those factors with the more complex constant speed joints.
