Determination of the Refractive Index of Air by the Dispersion Method Using Radio Waves,

Abstract

The authors derive formulas which can be used to determine the refractive index of air with a known accuracy (an upper bound on the error). The formulas, which are based on the dispersion method, are functions of the difference of the optical paths of light and radio waves, the absolute air temperature, and atmospheric pressure.
