Gluing Technology,

Abstract

Various types of glues, methods of gluing wood materials with them, and basic technological operations of the gluing process are considered in the book. Changes in glue properties in the process of their preparation and application on the surfaces being glued are considered. Procedures for preparation and application of glues on the surface of the materials being glued, the rate of hardening of glues depending on their composition, viscosity, heating temperatures, and also procedures for gluting wood to wood, to glass plastic and other materials are all presented. Factors which affect the strength of joints, the causes and nature of the formation of stresses in glued joints, the relationship of strength and longevity of glued joints to gluing methods and procedures are considered.
