The Relation between the Quality of a Motion-Picture Image and the Degree of Development of the Negative and Positive,

Abstract

The problem of the change of quality of the resultant positive image is discussed when the negative and positive are developed to different levels of contrast, the conditions of development being kept constant. When the quality of the image is assessed, the tone reproduction, sharpness, and graininess of the resulting positive image do not noticeably change at different levels of development.
