Experimental Study of the Condensed Phase in the Combustion Products of Metallized Solid Propellants,

Abstract

After recalling the formation processes and the evolution of metallic oxide particles in combustion products of a metallized propellant, the various techniques for experimentally determining their granulometry are presented. It is endeavored to present the characteristics and their limits. The study of experimental results emphasizes the great dispersions which do not permit the definition of the influence of the engine functioning parameters on granulometry other than in a qualitative manner.
