Thermal Stability of Polyheteroarylenes,

Abstract

Fully aromatic high-molecular compounds exhibit high thermal stability and a prominent class of these compounds is the polyheteroarylenes -- aromatic systems consisting of aromatic rings and various heterocycles. This review summarizes literature reports through 1969 on polyheteroarylenes containing five-membered heterocycles (polyimides, polybenzazoles, and polyazoles), polyheteroarylenes containing six-membered heterocycles (polynaphthyridines and polyazines), and mixed polyheteroarylenes.
