Program Reduction in the PILER System.

Abstract

The PILER System is an automatic translating system which creates an operational program for a target computer, using a program operable on a source computer for problem definition. The purpose of program reduction, as implemented in the PILER Analyzer, is to reduce the subject program to logic essentials divorced from source computer environment. Part of program reduction is the determination of the significant commands and effects, and the elimination of the superfluous commands and actions. This paper describes technical details of the Condition Analyzer and Register Usage Analyzer in the Piler Analyzer. (Modified author abstract)
