Radio Interference on Plastic Forty-Foot Prototype Boat.

Abstract

The unacceptable level of radio interference found to exist aboard the prototype 40-foot plastic boat, CG-40043, was investigated. It was found that the boat's windshield wiper motor was the main source of interference. This condition has been corrected by installing a shielded and grounded wiper power line and a filter capacitor within the motor case. These corrective measures are only tempory to indicate the method used. It was also found that most of the shielded wire used aboard the boat was not grounded. Other lesser deficiencies are listed in the body of the report. (Modified author abstract)
