Tropo Diversity Simulator Development.

Abstract

The report covers the work performed during the expansion of a previously developed quad diversity, two-tap troposcatter simulator into its fully instrumented design. The simulator developed under this contract is a quad diversity, sixteen-tap troposcatter simulator having a multipath delay spread that is adjustable between 0.1 and 1.5 microseconds. This program has resulted in the development of a device that provides repeatable and controllable laboratory quality instrumentation. It will accurately simulate the effects of multipath, independent signal fades in both amplitude and phase along with receiver noise on troposcatter communications links. The simulator was designed to be interfaced between modem equipments operating at an IF frequency of 70 MHz and with signal bandwidths up to 10 MHz.
