Human Read/Machine Read Information Processor System.

Abstract

The Human Read/Machine Read (HRMR) Microfilm Memory System was developed. The equipment is intended to be an initial step toward a mass memory microfilm data storage and retrieval system. The HRMR System is composed of functional modules. Basic modules are the Recorder, Reader, Controller, Graphic Arts Scanner (digitizer), and a Microfiche Storage and Retrieval Module were implemented on this program. Although there are many reasons for considering holographic methods for use in storing data, the principal reason is to achieve a system that can store large quantities of data in a low-cost, compact, reliable system from which the data can be easily retrieved. The HRMR System machine read recording concept accomplishes this objective by providing high density storage of binary data while facilitating rapid readout at low error rates. The report summarizes the activities of the HRMR program and describes the equipment which was developed. (Modified author abstract)
