SARRA, A Computer Program for the Short ARC Reduction of Radar Altimetry.

Abstract

The program SARRA exploits short arc reduction of radar altimetry in determining the geoid surface in the North Atlantic. Unlike other approaches in the use of satellite altimetry, SARRA does not require highly accurate orbits of 1 to 2 meters. The major advantage offered by the short arc approach is that it in no way depends on the establishment of a highly accurate reference orbit and thus places only minimal requirements on satellite tracking by external systems.
