Development of Noise Reduction Kits for the U.S. Army 10,000-lb. Rough Terrain Forklift Truck

Abstract

Retrofit kits were developed to reduce acoustical noise at the operator's ear of the U.S. Army 10,000 Lb. Rough Terrain Forklift Truck. Modifications included replacement of exhaust mufflers, engine fan, hydraulic lines and a hydraulic pump. Engine, transmission and some hydraulic components were isolated mounted. Treatment also included use of sound barrier and absorption materials, panel damping and numerous special enclosure parts.
