Broadband Transmitter Tube.

Abstract

The objectives of the program are to determine the feasibility of multiple-coupled slow wave structures interacting with multiple beams in a single traveling-wave tube. The device shall be designed for high output power over a broad instantaneous frequency range. Also desired is a high continuous wave RF output power capability, resonable saturated gain and efficiency levels suitable for electronic warfare applications. Cold test data were taken for various dual-helix circuit structures. Dual beam electron gun design studies were performed. A figure 8 circuit and a dual beam gun were successfully combined into a tube and three 660H traveling-wave tubes were built. Theoretical and experimental electron gun design studies were made for Ku-band. The Ku-band circuit design and cold test were completed.
