Frequencies and Durations of Surface Temperatures in Hot-Dry Climatic Category (Northern Africa).

Abstract

This report presents preliminary results of a study of surface temperatures and durations of extreme surface temperatures at stations in the hot-dry regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Maps presented in this report depict the distribution of temperature and durations in Northern Africa during the warmest months (April - October) of the year at levels of probability selected for their significance to research and development of missiles systems. Several types of information can be retrieved from the preliminary data including level of temperature exceeded 1 and 5% of the time, distributions of temperature at critical frequency levels, and durations of critical temperature thresholds.
