VHF Tactical Channel Characterization.

Abstract

The report describes VHF channel characteristics severely perturbed by multipath conditions attributed primarily to reflected waves from flying aircraft. Five spectral tones were transmitted on 40.35 MHz over path lengths of 7 to 15 miles using modified tactical communication equipment. Analysis of the tones is presented in terms of their amplitude and phase variations, and channel characteristic effects. (Author)
