A Critical Review of the Work on Determination of Nuclear Radiation Effects in Solids by Ultrasonic Attenuation.
Abstract
The literature in which the effects of irradiating various solids with fast neutrons or gamma rays have been determined by the change in ultrasonic attenuation from preirradiation values has been critically reviewed. It has been shown that the mechanism whereby the change in attenuation occurs yields information on the nature of the radiation-caused defects. Examples used are Na Cl and quartz.
