Management of Hard Tissue Avulsive Wounds and Management of Orofacial Fractures.

Abstract

Studies were continued to further develop and characterize calcium phosphate materials for implant evaluation as resorbable ceramics for use in the repair of maxillofacial bone defects. Specific research studies have been devoted primarily to investigating methods of milling laboratory-prepared calcined tricalcium phosphate powders and correlating the procedures with properties of sintered specimen. The ultimate objective of these studies has been to establish materials preparation and processing procedures to produce tricalcium phosphate implant specimens having improved chemical and physical characteristics. By utilization of the derived procedures, high-density high strength implants specimens were fabricated for in vivo studies. (Modified author abstract)
