DoD Transportation Information Systems Study--Reconnaissance.

Abstract

The report documents a survey of the information systems supporting the three single manager transportation operating agencies (TOAs)--the Military Airlift Command (MAC), the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and the Military Traffic Management and Terminal Service (MTMTS). The report includes a description of the information systems supporting each agency, a discussion of areas within or among agencies which appear subject to improvement, and an assessment of the performance measures used by each agency. Recommendations are offered for resolution of the more significant problem areas (inadequate visibility, planning of the composition of the MSC Nucleus Fleet and multiple ports of call) and improvement of agency performance measures.
