Colours of Marine Signal Lights (Tsveta Signalnykh Ognei v Morskom Flota),

Abstract

Five color signals are used on ships: white, red, green, yellow and blue. The signals are made with an incandescent lamp combined with color filters. The required visibility distance of the signals is established by an international agreement. The aim of the paper is to make a selection of colors of the five-color system of signalling and establish the color characteristics of the signals, and also to find the range within which the color of the signal may vary from the established norm. It will then be necessary to establish what types of colored glass can best be used for a given signal.
