Slow Negative Wave of the Evoked Potentials in the Auditory Cortical Area to Acoustical Clinks with Different Signal Values,

Abstract

The slow negative wave, a late component following the primary set of evoked potentials of the auditory cortical area, in response to acoustic clicks with changing conditioned reflex meanings were studied on six dogs with permanently implanted electrodes in the auditory cortical area. Graphs and oscillogram photos are presented, showing an inverse relation between the appearance of slow negative waves and number of motor responses to a conditioned stimulus. The data are in agreement with the data of some experiments on man and animals. It is proposed that neuromechanisms connected with conditioned inhibition participate in the generation of slow negative waves.
