Specialist Meeting on Low Cycle High Temperature Fatigue.

Abstract

Fatigue and creep phenomena, superimposed in a complex way, especially affect the performance of engines operating at high and variable temperatures and under cyclic stresses. This Conference Proceedings contains the text of seven papers on Low Cycle High Temperature Fatigue (LCHTF) given at the AGARD Specialists Meeting. Some of the important areas explored in this document are: the analysis and calculation of LCHTF phenomena in jet engines; factors affecting and controls needed to enhance LCHTF testing; Effects on design life of interacting parameters such as temperature, frequency and hold-time effects, and stress cycling/strain cycling; a study of present and future methods of correlation of multiaxial fatigue; recently developed methods of lifetime prediction of materials under high temperature loading; and a review of present methods of design for high temperature cyclic conditions. A technical evaluation of the Specialists Meeting by the Meeting Coordinator is included.
