A Survey of Bifurcation Theory.

Abstract

A survey of bifurcation theory is presented. Beginning by mentioning some of the phenomena in fluid dynamics and elasticity theory which led to the development of the subject, it goes on to describe the main results obtained by analytic methods (including some stability results) as well as by the application of topological and variational methods.
