Design of an Integrated Bridge Intended to Reduce Bridge Manning on Navy Ships. Volume II.

Abstract

This Volume II of a two-volume report describing the development of an integrated bridge for Navy ships. The goal of the integrated bridge is to improve the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of shipboard operations while at the same time reducing the number of personnel required to perform the bridge function. This volume is a report of a bridge information requirements survey which was conducted to identify the information used by bridge personnel in the performance of their duties. This volume presents a list of the more than 1300 information items included in the survey together with statistical summaries indicating the relative importance and frequency of use of these items. A summary of the comments made by the participants is also provided. (Author)
