Evaluation of Analytical Techniques for the Determination of Trace Elements in Marine Waters.

Abstract

Three analytical techniques for the determination of trace elements in marine waters were selected for evaluation and comparison. The selection and evaluation of these techniques are based on their speed, accuracy, sensitivity, simplicity, applicability to seawater, adaptability to automation, capability of multielemental determination, and cost of analysis. The techniques are atomic absorption spectroscopy, neutron activation analysis, and x ray fluorescence analysis. (Modified author abstract)
