Candlepower Tests of Moulded Directional Lenses,

Abstract

In designing a double hot spot lens it has been found that two basic forms can be used. These two forms are molded bulls eye fresnel lens on the exterior of the basic 200 MM cylinder with molded auxiliary vertical prisms on the interior of the basic 200 MM cylinder, and molded horizontal prisms around the circumference of the basic 200 MM cylinder with molded vertical prisms on the interior of the basic 200 MM cylinder. The photometric measurements recorded in this report show that of the four lenses tested, the lens having the basic form (a) (bulls eye lens) generally produces the higher peak beam candlepower than the three lenses having basic forms (b). This report concludes that the proposed hot spot directional drum lens should be designed using the basic external molded bull's eye design with auxiliary vertical prisms on the inside of the lens cylinder.
