Control of Evaporator Scale.

Abstract

The report presents data on four aspects of the study of scale control in sea water evaporators; namely, CO2 elimination from sea water, density of sea water concentrated, boiling points of sea water concentrates, and rate of scale formation in evaporators. It has been found that all of the CO2 content of sea water can be eliminated by heating and aeration; temperature is the controlling factor in the rate of CO2 loss. Density data for sea water concentrates are presented. Boiling points are given on various sea water concentrates. Information on the scaling rate of evaporators is collected and analyzed.
